Wed, May 1
Aldo Vacca of Produttori del Barbaresco

Aldo is Managing Director of the Produttori del Barbaresco, which has grown to a 52 member co-operative with 250 acres of Nebbiolo vineyards in the Barbaresco appellation and an annual production of over 500,000 bottles. Its vineyards amount to almost 1/6 of the vineyards of the area. Each member is in full control of their land, growing Nebbiolo grapes with the skill and dedication they have honed over generations.

Playing a key role in elevating the quality level of Barbaresco over the years, Produttori del Barbaresco produces a simpler Nebbiolo Langhe, a Barbaresco blend and nine single vineyard wines sourced from premier sites and bottled as Riserva. The popularity of these wines has long outstripped supply: we're honored to present this opportunity. This dinner will feature all Nebbiolo pairings and additional flourishes, including very limited Barbaresco Riserva, as well as an optional additional flight of aged Barbaresco Riserva.

Aldo is a longtime friend of Cathy Whims and Nostrana. We're excited to have him join us once more.

Giuseppe Vaira of G.D. Vajra

The wines of G.D. Vajra are characterized by pristine flavors and clearly defined perfumes. These qualities are attributable to the position of the family's vineyards at about 400 metres above sea level in the village of Vergne in the commune of Barolo. G.D. Vajra was established in 1972 and named after Giuseppe's grandfather, Giuseppe Domenico. A traditionalist producer, Vajra adheres to old-style winemaking methods, such as long aging in barrel for his Barolo, but combines this with new techniques, such as a judicious use of oak, to produce superbly elegant wines.

Giuseppe is also a longtime friend of Cathy Whims and Nostrana. We're excited to have him join us once more.

Giovanni Negro of Angelo Negro

North of Alba, just across the Tanaro river from the Langhe, lies the Roero. While lesser known than it's counterparts across the river, the Nebbiolo grape is also king here, sharing the spotlight with Arneis, the most important local white grape.

Angelo Negro is an historically significant winery whose origins date back to 1670. In this year, two of the estate’s most important vineyards—Perdaudin and Prachiosso—were first planted. With some of the most desired vineyard sites in Roero, Negro is one of the indisputable legends of the region.

Giovanni Negro, the estate’s present owner, produced the first dry Roero Arneis on record in 1971. Following tradition, the winery now boasts a stunning lineup of Arneis as well as an impressive range of Roero Nebbiolo. Today, Negro observes organic practices while managing a staggering 64 hectares.

We're excited to welcome Giovanni to Nostrana for the first time.
